
Clemson beats FSU for first ACC win |
GREENVILLE, SC – Clemson picked up its first ACC win of the season Saturday afternoon, knocking off Florida St. 84-75 at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
Jordan Roper had a season-high 23 points, while Avry Holmes added 15, including a big 3-pointer with just under five minutes to play. Sidy Djitte added 14 points and eight rebounds. Clemson improves to 8-6 overall, 1-1 in the ACC. Florida St. falls to 10-3 overall, 0-1 in the ACC. Clemson had five players in double digits. The Tigers led by two at intermission, but went on a 12-5 run over four minutes to extend their lead to 66-59 with 3:41 to play. Florida State could never close the margin to less than five over the final three minutes. Clemson shot 45-percent from the field and made 10-of-26 attempts from behind the arc, including seven three-pointers from Roper. The Tigers were 24-of-33 from the free throw line, while Florida State was 12-of-18. The Tigers travel to Syracuse for an 8 p.m. tipoff Tuesday night against the Orange in the Carrier Dome.
