Cartersville Clemson commit Trevor Lawrence has thrown for over 1,800 yards in six games this season.

A future Clemson quarterback continued his pursuit of a former Clemson quarterback in the Georgia high school record books.

Trevor Lawrence topped 300 passing yards (308) in a second-straight game as Cartersville (Ga.) topped Central (Ga.) 55-6. Lawrence fired three touchdown passes by the end of the first quarter and finished with five scores.

Lawrence is over 1,800 passing yards (1,846) with 20 touchdowns to one interception in the Hurricanes’ 6-0 campaign. With 138 passing touchdowns and over 12,000 passing yards (12,447) over 3.5 seasons, Lawrence is within striking distance of state records held by Deshaun Watson (13,077 yards and 159 passing touchdowns).

Cartersville has four region games left starting with a trip to LaGrange (Ga.) next week before the pursuit of a third-straight state title in the playoffs.

Xavier Thomas – 5-star IMG Academy (Fla.) DE; Mike Jones Jr. – 4-star IMG OLB

Thomas and Jones Jr. played their part in a dominant effort versus Northwestern (Fla.), delivering a 21-0 shutout. Jones Jr. did a little bit of everything with an interception, a couple sacks and even a fake punt run for a first down.

Thomas went into the game with 17 tackles (12 solo), two tackles for loss and a sack through three games. Jones Jr. had posted 13 total stops.

B.T. Potter – 3-star South Pointe (SC) kicker

Clemson kicker B.T. Potter continued a strong senior campaign with two field goals and six extra points in a 56-19 win at Ridge View. Potter, who a grew up a Clemson fan, was featured on Charlotte’s Fox 46 last week, where he said embraces pressure situations. South Pointe coach Strait Herron said Potter has only improved as a four-year starter for the Stallions.

“He’s kicked in three state championship games and he’s gotten better and better every year,” Herron told Fox 46. “Right now he’s just thunder-foot.”

Derion Kendrick – 4-star South Pointe (SC) receiver prospect

Kendrick had an eventful night, which ended in a first-half ejection due to a personal foul. Before the early exit, Kendrick, who plays quarterback for the Stallions, threw his 12th and 13th passing scores of the season (18 total TDs). He’s completed 69.8 percent of his throws this season.

Darnell Jefferies – 3-star Newton (GA) DT; Justin Mascoll – 4-star South Gwinnett (GA) DE

Two of Clemson’s defensive line commits met on the field Friday with Jefferies and Newton taking a 30-8 win over Mascoll and South Gwinnett. Mascoll posted a couple sacks and a couple more tackles for loss in the losing effort, while Jefferies was a force in the backfield as well in holding South Gwinnett to a lone touchdown.

Josh Belk – 3-star Lewisville (SC) DT

Belk’s Lewisville Lions improved to 6-1 by rolling region rival McBee (SC), 66-12. Lewisville shut out McBee in the second half and held them to 189 total yards.

Here’s a short clip from Belk’s the week before:

Quick hits: 4-star defensive back prospect Kyler McMichael added his eighth and ninth touchdown rushes of the season in a 55-7 Greater Atlanta Christian win over Fannin County (Ga.)…A tough season continued for 4-star OLB prospect Jake Venables’ Daniel Lions, which fell to 1-5 in a 35-14 loss to Wren (SC).

Did not play: 3-star TE prospect Braden Galloway (out 4-6 weeks with foot injury).
