Wren (Piedmont, SC) class of 2019 left-hander Ryan Ammons committed to play for Clemson baseball Tuesday.

Ammons was named second-team All-Region 4A by Diamond Prospect last season.

Perfect Game’s last assessment of Ammons came before last school year, giving an idea of what Ammons brings to Clemson:

“Throws from a high three-quarter slot, leg lift up past the belt, threw exclusively out of the stretch, online delivery,” his Perfect Game report from the 2016 Southeast Underclass Showcase said. “Fastball has some life down in the zone, the fastball sat from 76-78 mph and topped out at 79 mph, generates extension out front, easy delivery, locates to glove side well.

“Delivery has balance and is repeatable, throws breaking ball for strikes, locates arm side well. Fastball has sink down in the zone, maintained arm action and slot on changeup, short fading life to changeup, slider is almost cutter-like.”

He is a second 2019 area commit in as many days, joining T.L. Hanna infielder Regan Reid.
