Instate kicker on signing with Clemson

by -

Jonathan Weitz grew up a Clemson fan and he will continue kicking career with the Tigers this fall. He earned his way into a preferred walk-on role by hitting some pressure kicks at Clemson camp, he told the Moultrie News.

With Clemson coach Dabo Swinney right there to witness, Weitz made a 46-yard field goal that was a mock ACC Championship winner. Now he's ready to try his hand at the real thing with the Tigers.

“Kicking is a lot different than any other position in football. And the recruiting process for kickers can be kind of different too,” Weitz told the Moultrie News. “A lot goes into it with the traveling and the camps and the rankings and the different things you have to do. So to get to this point and be able to continue to do what I love at Clemson, it feels way more special than I expected.”
