Four-star 2018 linebacker
Dax Hollifield finalized his recruitment by committing to Virginia Tech on Wednesday morning.
During his announcement, the talented defender said that one of the reasons that he chose the Hokies was because it "felt like home." The Tigers were the first to offer the Shelby (N.C.) 4-star linebacker, and after some late shifts in Clemson’s recruiting board, Hollifield had Clemson as a finalist but it was not enough to secure the commitment. The other finalists for the bluechip recruit were in-state North Carolina and Stanford. In 2017, Hollifield posted 150 tackles, including 32 for loss and 6.5 sacks. He also tallied a big junior season with 146 tackles, 52 tackles for loss an interception, and a pass breakup. As a sophomore, he totaled 204 tackles, including 38 tackles for loss, 8 sacks, and an interception. As a freshman, he registered 112 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 6 sacks and an interception. Virginia Tech moved up to the 22nd-best class rated by 247Sports with Hollifield's commitment, which is the fourth-best in the ACC currently behind Miami (5), Clemson (7) and Florida State (12).
