4-star 2017 defensive back LeAnthony Williams committed to Clemson on Monday afternoon per an online video over his finalists Georgia, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Florida.
"From Day 1 I had always wanted to play big-time college football so that is why I committed to the University of Clemson," Williams Jr. said in his commitment video. "I couldn't make this decision without my dad, Coach Langford, and Kevin Polk. I'm officially all in." Williams had national offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Penn State, Purdue, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCF, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech. He is a consensus 4-star recruit by all the major recruiting services. The 6-0, 175-pound defensive back made a trip to Clemson back in January with his family and was impressed with what he saw. “The coaches were showing all their love, and it was great talking to Coach (Mike) Reed and Coach (Dabo) Swinney and Coach (Tony) Elliott,” he said. “They are considering me really big as an athlete but want me to take my time and make sure everything is right. It was great being a part of the photo shoot and getting to know Clemson better. They meet all of my requirements for a major. They are a great fit for me.” "It's just them (Clemson) showing so much love throughout the recruiting process, and they put an emphasis on the family situation. They want you to be able to feel comfortable at the university." Williams is the 8th commit for Clemson's stellar 2017 recruiting class and the seventh to be ranked 4 stars by ESPN. 2017 4 star CB @LWilliams_4 tripped to #Clemson over the weekend pic.twitter.com/7kWTmidYiC
