Clemson's week off saw at least one Playoff contender knocked out of the mix with No. 6 Oregon falling at Arizona State on Saturday evening.
ESPN's FiveThirtyEight gives eight teams a double-digit chance to make the Playoff over the next two weeks, with Clemson leading the way (90) then Ohio State (78), LSU (69), Georgia (50), Oklahoma (43), Utah (27), Alabama (13) and Baylor (12). Their 'Playoff Predictor' metric holds Ohio State with the best chance (95), followed by Clemson (87), LSU (86), Georgia (50), Alabama (47) and Oklahoma (12). Utah has the next best shot (9) with all other teams at three percent or under. Ohio State (37) and Clemson (27) are given the best title odds, ahead of LSU (15), Alabama (12) and Georgia (7). Out of that mix, No. 2 Ohio State (at No. 13 Michigan), No. 5 Alabama (at No. 15 Auburn) and No. 9 Oklahoma (at No. 21 Oklahoma State) have the toughest tests this week to possibly pare it down more going into championship weekend. CBS Sports currently projects a Clemson-Ohio State matchup in the CFP Fiesta Bowl, while Oklahoma charges to the No. 4 spot against LSU. With Alabama down to a backup QB, none of ESPN's Playoff panel would have the Crimson Tide in the top-four currently, with Georgia taking the fourth spot and Utah and Oklahoma each drawing two votes. ESPN lead college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit has Alabama on the doorstep with Utah, ranking LSU No. 1 then Ohio State, Clemson and Georgia. My top 4 with 2 weeks to play!
