The Predators hung on for a 41-21 victory, but some of the joy of the postseason success was drained by Williams' frightening injury.

Williams was hurt playing defense, the side of the ball he's expected to focus on when he plays for Clemson University next year. He had been delivering powerful hits all night on defense, leaving Sabres quarterback John Walker shaken up after an earlier hit. Williams' power and aggression were turned against him with 4:20 remaining in the third quarter when he had a particularly violent collision with Southside running back Austin Powell.

Powell slowly walked away from where he was tackled at the Fox Creek 6-yard line, but Williams remained lying face down - and motionless. The game was stopped as trainers, coaches and family attended to Williams, who was moving his legs before an ambulance arrived. Williams reportedly suffered a stinger to his neck and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

After the game, Fox Creek head coach Russ Schneider said he hadn't heard definitive word on Williams but learned the start quarterback was waiting to be seen by doctors.

"It wasn't a concussion," Schnider said of the injury before making his way over to the hospital to see Williams. "He was alert and moving. It was just a precaution."
