Clemson commitment and Charlotte running back Mike Bellamy opened the playoffs in a big way by running for 241 yards and four touchdowns without playing the second half. He had scoring runs of 18 yards, 67 yards, 1 yard, and 65 yards and averaged 16 yards per carry.
Charlotte (11-0) defeated Naples Gulf Coast (3-8) 49-11 and played the entire second half with a running clock. Bellamy now has 2,165 yards and 40 touchdowns on the season. His 7,101 career yards makes him only the 7th person in Florida high school history to go over the 7000 mark for a career. Charlotte will host Cape Coral next week in the second round of the state playoffs. Bellamy who took a trip to Tennessee last weekend said he wanted to give the Volunteers a visit since they were the first school to offer him. After the game he told the Sarasota Herald Tribune that he enjoyed the trip but he is "200% percent going to Clemson".
