Third time's a charm: Clemson back on SI cover |
A member of the Clemson football team is on the cover of Sports Illustrated for the third time this year.
Clemson junior defensive end Shaq Lawson is front and center for the new special preview 2015 College Football Playoff magazine edition titled "The Case for Clemson." There are four different regional magazines going out with each of the four playoff teams (Clemson, Oklahoma, Alabama and Michigan State). Heisman finalist and Davey O'Brien award winner Deshaun Watson has already been on two Sports Illustrated covers this year. Lawson has 79 tackles and leads the nation in tackles for loss with 22 and has 9.5 quarterback sacks this season. He had six tackles, including two tackles for loss and a caused fumble in Clemson’s 45-37 win over North Carolina for the ACC Championship. Lawson was a finalist this season for the Nagurski Award, Lombardi Award and Ted Hendricks Award and has said that he will enter the 2016 NFL draft.
