Clemson men's athletics tops Capital One Cup fall standings |
Clemson football joined two other championship teams to lead the way in the fall standings for men's athletics in the Capital One Cup.
Clemson, North Dakota State (FCS football) and Maryland (men's soccer) earned the highest-point total in the all-athletics ranking with 60 for their respective championships. Clemson was the only school from the ACC in the top-10. Notre Dame ranked 11th and Wake Forest, 19th. The ranking weighs point totals for top-10 finishes with football a 'Group B' sport with the highest point totals for a championship. The 'Group A' sports, such as golf, tennis and ice hockey, are awarded 20 points for their No. 1 team. Clemson ranked 10th after the fall events of the 2017-18 competition. They finished third overall (78) behind Stanford (92.5) and North Carolina (84) in the last football national championship season. Congrats to our Clemson men’s athletics program for ranking #1 in the @CapitalOne Cup Fall Standings! #ALLIN
