(Statesville, N.C./South Iredell) committed Thursday to play for Virginia, multiple sources report. Florida, East Carolina, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Tennessee and South Carolina also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot, 215-pound prospect. Clemson and North Carolina State were among the other programs recruiting Smith. Smith registered 82 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and two interceptions last fall. As a sophomore, he posted 99 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and seven sacks.
