Latest NBA draft outlook for PJ Hall |
We're under a week to the NBA draft, and PJ Hall looks to start his pro basketball career in style.
The NBA draft gets underway on June 26, and the next day (June 27/4 ET/ESPN), by all accounts, is when Hall could hear his name called with Round 2. The Athletic has the highest projection for the All-ACC big man ($), predicting a No. 40 overall selection to the Portland Trail Blazers. CBS Sports' Kyle Boone picks him going one spot later to the Philadelphia 76ers. "The on-court/off-court metrics for Clemson with and without PJ Hall last season are staggering. The big man has a skilled game on the interior and is coming off a career year in which he averaged 18.3 points per game," Boone said. Bleacher Report is in the same range with a No. 45 pick to the Sacramento Kings. "PJ Hall didn't scrimmage in Chicago after participating last year. There is ultimately enough game film of the senior playing against NBA-caliber bigs from the ACC," B/R's Jonathan Wasserman said. "Hall will still have to sell teams on his shooting during workouts, but he's consistently improved his range. And between his physical profile and fundamentals around the post, his post scoring feels translatable." A selection isn't guaranteed, however, with ESPN ($) among multiple two-round projections not featuring Hall. Hall led Clemson's scoring over the last three seasons, tallying 18.3 points and 6.4 rebounds with a 77.9% rate at the free throw line in a first-team All-ACC campaign this past season during an Elite Eight run. Hall looks to make it consecutive NBA draft years with a selection for a Clemson player for the first time since 1993-94 (Chris Whitney in the second round in '93 to San Antonio; Sharone Wright No. 6 overall to Philadelphia in '94), joining former teammate Hunter Tyson in the league (No. 37 in the second round to Oklahoma City and traded to Denver).
