South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier was on the set of ESPN SportsCenter on Tuesday morning and discussed various topics and rival Clemson was very much again a theme of discussion.
The Ole Ball Coach talked about Clemson being the first team from South Carolina to win a BCS Bowl, Swinney's real Carolina rant in 2011, the lack of BCS Bowls invites from the Gamecocks and more. Spurrier said on the topic of Clemson being the 1st and only team from SC to win a BCS Bowl, "He's right. Although we beat them every year. We don't get to go. They do." He also talked to Danny Ford recently and told him, "Danny, have they completely forgotten about you and your team?’" He said, "I think they have." Dabo Swinney answered a question at ACC Kickoff on Monday about his personal relationship with Steve Spurrier. He used an relationship analogy - “He’s from Pluto, I’m from Mars”. Spurrier fired back, "Dabo still thinks there are 9 planets out there." The veteran head coach even went back into the archives and answered a question about the classic Dabo real Carolina rant in 2011. "Sometimes he forgets he throws some stuff out there also. He wants to make people believe that I'm the only one that throws a little stuff out there."" Lastly, Spurrier confirmed that Swinney's wives are friends and its just all some good ole fashion trash talking - "Our wives are wonderful friends and are involved in a charity together.
