Kearse: "I'm going to make the other 31 teams pay" |
Former Clemson safety Jayron Kearse was drafted #244 overall by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft on Saturday night.
Kearse watched the NFL draft with his family back in Fort Myers, Florida and watched hopelessly as he was passed on by NFL teams round after round. He wants everyone to know that he has a huge chip on his shoulder after watching teams pass on him in the NFL Draft. "All thirty-one [teams] that passed on me are going to pay," Kearse said via news-press.com. "Everybody that went in front of me is going to realize and see that I am going to make everybody who passed on me pay whether it is in a game or after three years when I am sitting at the table with my agent, we are going to make them pay." Once he was drafted, Kearse took thirty-one of the caps he received in the mail from New Era and dropped them on the ground where friends and family scooped them up. He kept one – Minnesota’s. "So I threw the caps on the ground after I was drafted," Kearse said. "The Vikings gave me a shot. 31 passed on me, so 31 got thrown on the ground. The Vikings are the lucky ones. I’m definitely going to make the other 31 pay.” Click here if video does not load In 2015, Kearse was a first-team All-American by ESPN and second-team Associated Press All-American with 62 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, one interception and six pass breakups.
