Clemson opens as a huge favorite over Louisville

No. 2 Clemson defeated Florida St. 59-10 Saturday in Tallahassee, the third straight game that has seen the Tigers score 41-plus points. Vegas thinks the Tigers have a good shot at eclipsing that mark again next Saturday when they host Louisville at noon in Death Valley.

The Tigers opened as 37-point favorites.

Clemson is 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the ACC following the win over the Seminoles, while Louisville is trending in the opposite direction. Louisville has not won a game since Sept. 15th and is 2-6 overall and 0-5 in the ACC. The Cardinals have given up 160 points in the last three games.

Louisville joined the ACC before the 2014 football season and is 0-4 against Clemson in that span. Clemson's largest margin of victory in the series came in 2017 when the Tigers defeated the Cardinals 47-21 at Papa John's Stadium.

NOTE: This might be the largest point spread ever for Clemson in a conference game. A quick look at some historical data suggests the previous high was against Duke back in 2000 - the Tigers were 36 1/2 point favorites and won 52-22. Most recently the Tigers were 32-point favorites over Boston College in 2017, and won 34-7.
