Clemson forward's status in question for UNC game

Clemson coach Brad Brownell said Monday morning that reserve graduate forward Mark Donnal will be evaluated for a concussion after taking a hit in the final seconds of the Georgia Tech game Sunday night.

"Mark took a shot to the head late in the game I think there at the end," Brownell said on the ACC basketball teleconference. "I think he's going to go under concussion protocol today and take a look and see. We probably won't know until later today if he will be available or not. We'll find that out later."

The No. 20 Tigers (17-4) face a short turnaround against No. 17 (No. 20 in Coaches Poll) UNC (16-6) with a 7 p.m. tip Tuesday in Littlejohn (ESPN).

Brownell's group is especially hurting when it comes to big men, already missing senior forward Donte Grantham with a season-ending injury (knee). Donnal has averaged 12.9 minutes per game over the season, but that's picked up to 17 per game in the last two without Grantham.

The Michigan transfer is averaging 3.8 points and 1.9 rebounds. He's scored in double-figures twice in ACC play (13 at NC State; 12 versus Miami).
