Clemson football trainers and staff rush to rescue of driver involved in wreck

The Clemson football team might be ranked No. 2 in the polls, but one lucky driver probably has the Tigers at the top of his list.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was talking to his team after Tuesday's practice when they all heard a loud crash. A few seconds later, the sounds of a car rolling through the brush and trees filled the air. Members of the team and the staff rushed to the side of the indoor practice facility and saw a car resting at the bottom of the steepest part of the hill.

Members of the Clemson staff and student managers took to the water - even offensive coordinator Tony Elliott was in the water - swimming across the moat and over to the vehicle. They stayed with the driver until EMS arrived, put the driver on a backboard and lifted him off the hill.

According to reports, the car never reached the water and the driver was awake and talking. We will speak with Swinney tomorrow after practice and have more info at that time.
