CBS experts favor Clemson in Playoff predictions

CBS Sports released its College Football Playoff predictions this week -- and Clemson's 3-seed is no barrier to a back-to-back national championship prediction.

Seven of the 11 panelists pick Dabo Swinney's Tigers to win it all, with LSU as the uncontested favorite to be the opponent in New Orleans on Jan. 13. Nine pick Clemson over Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. Of the other selections, LSU has three championship predictions, and Ohio State, one.

Dennis Dodd, one of those picking Clemson over the next two games, says the last meeting with Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl, a 31-0 win, was a turning point nationally.

"After that game, Clemson was never the same -- in a good way. The momentum created from that Ohio State win spawned college football's latest dynasty," Dodd writes. "Since that day, the Tigers are 40-2 with two national championships in three years. The current 28-game winning streak is the 16th-longest in history. Win out this season and only nine schools will have longer streaks in the 150-year history of the game.

"With Alabama missing the playoff for the first time, it can be said with confidence that Clemson is the program to be chased, not the one chasing anymore."

Clemson is currently favored by two points over Ohio State according to VegasInsider.
