AJ Terrell is breaking some new ground at the cornerback position in the NFL.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Terrell re-signed with the Atlanta Falcons for a deal that includes the largest guaranteed money for a NFL cornerback, at $65.8 million.

The total deal is worth $81 million over four years.

He has four interceptions and 43 passes defensed over four seasons in Atlanta. Terrell tallied second-team All-Pro honors in 2021 with three picks and 16 passes defensed.

A former first-round pick by Atlanta, Terrell concluded his three-year Clemson career credited with 107 career tackles (3.5 for loss), 20 pass breakups, six interceptions (returned for a total of 160 yards including a 44-yard touchdown) and two forced fumbles over 1,827 snaps in 44 games (30 starts).

He started all 15 games in his first year as a starter in 2018, scoring the first points of the College Football Playoff National Championship on a pick-six. He helped Clemson to a 29-1 record in two years as a starter.

Terrell will serve as the honorary captain for Clemson in the Clemson-Georgia game in Atlanta on Aug. 31. Terrell's brother Avieon is in line to start at cornerback for Clemson in that opener.
