2017 Schedule
I guess we can get picky and try to find something negative about the schedule the ACC released yesterday. You could say back-to-back games with Auburn and Louisville are tough draws. You could say a September that includes those teams and Virginia Tech is tough. You could say road trips to Louisville and Virginia Tech in September with a new quarterback will be a big test. I guess you could complain about a Friday night game at Syracuse.

Some may think the Florida State game comes too late in the season and it would be hard to get two teams from this conference in the playoff.

However, I find little to complain about with this schedule.

There are no back-to-back road games. We don't have to go to bad weather places like Virginia Tech in November, but I do remember the last time we went to Blacksburg on the first day of October, and the weather was miserable.

Clemson will be breaking in a new quarterback and September will be very difficult. However, another way of looking at it is the quarterback or quarterbacks will be more seasoned when Florida State arrives in Death Valley in November.

I do like the open date before Georgia Tech's Wack-a-doo offense even though I don't think Brent Venables will need much help in this game.

One nice thing about the schedule is the fact that it's evenly spread between home games and road games. Clemson doesn't play back-to-back road games, and they only have two straight home games twice and nothing more than three straight home games. Sometimes having three or four straight home games hurts attendance during that stretch.

The home schedule is attractive. Auburn and FSU highlight the home schedule, but Georgia Tech is always an interesting draw.

There are some pretty good road trips too. Louisville is a great trip with tons of things to do. I always like the short drive up to Blacksburg. This year at Syracuse I am going to try to sneak a trip to Cooperstown. Lastly, it's always nice to win in the state capitals of North Carolina and South Carolina.

I did notice the ACC did not release the site of the ACC title game. I guess that is still undecided.

Finally, I am pleased that no team will have an open date before they play Clemson and I like that Clemson's open date is in the middle of the season.
