Andrew Butcher visited Clemson for its annual spring game and Clemson's junior day earlier in the year. His father played for former Clemson head coach Danny Ford. Clemson had not offered yet but Butcher had early offers from Arkansas, Connecticut, Tennessee, Utah, and West Virginia.
