ACC Championship matchup set

by - Staff Writer -

Atlantic Division champion and No. 2 Clemson will meet Coastal Division champion Pittsburgh in Charlotte for the ACC title on Dec. 1 (8 p.m./ABC).

The Panthers (7-4) clinched their first Coastal Division title with five-straight conference wins to a 6-1 ACC record, the latest coming at Wake Forest on Saturday, 34-13. Three of their four losses have come versus ranked opponents (51-6 to No. 13 Penn State; 45-14 at No. 13 UCF; 19-14 at No. 5 Notre Dame; also 38-35 at UNC).

The two schools have only met twice, with the Panthers winning both times - the latest edition in 2016 with a 43-42 Pitt win at Memorial Stadium.

On the hunt for a fourth-straight conference crown, Clemson has its sights set on a number of records come the 7 p.m. kickoff with Duke Saturday. The Tigers are also seeking a second perfect ACC regular-season, which would join Florida State as the only ACC school with multiple 8-0 campaigns.

Pitt closes its regular season with a trip to Miami next week. Clemson hosts South Carolina that week in a 7 p.m. kickoff (ESPN).

Tickets are still on sale for the ACC Championship.
