Swinney updates injury status of Yeargin, Simpson

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney spoke to the media for the ACC Championship Coaches Teleconference on Sunday evening and shared an update on the injury status of his team as they head into Saturday's championship game in Orlando.

"We are hopeful," Swinney said about Richard Yeargin's injury. "It was a meniscus. So it was actually the best case scenario. He should be back very quickly. As I sit on Sunday, I will know more on Tuesday but I would say it is possible but definitely 100% full speed ahead once we get into the postseason after this game. He is doing very well."

Yeargin was a late addition to the injury report released by the school Friday before the Palmetto Bowl.

Freshman offensive lineman John Simpson had a leg injury during the fourth quarter against the Gamecocks and was carted off the field after an air cast was placed on his leg. Swinney says that his injury status is looking very optimistic compared how bad it looked on Saturday.

"John is good," Swinney said. "As I said last night, we were very concerned but there was no fracture. We are pretty optimistic after how he responded today. I think he was scared initially. But we are hopeful for him."
