Rodney Paulk enter the camp season without offers from Clemson or South Carolina. Now, he is quickly climbing the boards of both in-state schools.

South Carolina was first stop for Paulk this summer.

"At South Carolina, I performed really well. It is tough on the defense in a lot of these 7 on 7 camps, but I was pretty pleased. Most importantly, my team had a good showing at Clemson and South Carolina."

Byrnes head coach Bobby Bently told Tony Morrell of Gamecockcentral.com that he had never seen a linebacker cover his slot receivers the way Paulk did during South Carolina's 7 on 7.

Paulk's stock continued to rise after his performance at the Clemson camp.

"Clemson did not offer me at the camp, but Coach Burns said he has his eye on me. I believe Coach Scott is going to try and get me an offer."

How do the Tigers stand with Paulk?

"Well, I do not really have any favorites. South Carolina is probably my leader, because they have already come forth with the offer. I have visited Clemson several times, probably more than any other school. Clemson sits pretty well with me, if they offered I would give them a serious look."

We currently rate Paulk behind Julius Wilkerson in the battle for South Carolina's top linebacker in 2006. Paulk's coverage skills a very attractive, and he could wind up the #1 linebacker in South Carolina for 2006.
