Jamal Medlin remained on Clemson's recruiting board into December without an offer. Medlin stayed in contact with Clemson running backs coach Burton Burns. Coach Burns stayed consistent and never led Medlin astray.
The week of the Shrine Bowl was going to be the make or break point for Medlin with Clemson. Clemson offensive line coach Brad Scott took a very close look at Medlin, and he liked what he saw. Medlin was dominating Adam Patterson, who was supposed to be one of the top defensive line prospects in the country. Clemson gave Medlin his offer, and after entertaining offers from Maryland, NC State, and South Carolina, Medlin committed and signed with Clemson. The 300-pounder has great feet and can be dominating at the the line of scrimmage. It is likely he will redshirt in his freshman season at Clemson. Medlin needs a solid year to learn under Coach Scott. He has the potential to make great strides in the next two years, whether they decide to play him at tackle or guard. Freshman Forecast: Redshirt
