"Dawson took his place and took charge," said Howard. "He just ended up doing what he needed to do so we could win."

According to Dawson, when the Cardinals begin MEGA 7 conference play next week at East Gaston, they will need to be more consistent.

"If we don't start getting better as a team, we're not going to do that well - we're going to play 11 games and go home," Dawson said. "This is my senior year and that's not something I want to do. I want to make it to the state championship."
