Clemson football signee Grady Jarrett, considered the top heavyweight in Class AAAA all season, won the state title by beating Southwest DeKalb’s Garbriel Echols 6-0 in the 285-pound final. Jarrett finished his senior season 43-4.
“Coach (Craig Hargrove) told me this tournament was mine to win. It was an expectation,” Jarrett told the Rockdale Citizen. “After this tournament last year, I lost in the semis, I wanted to come back and win.” The Rockdale Bulldogs finished fourth as a team.
