One of the top-rated defensive linemen for 2020 announced a Clemson offer on Wednesday.
Four-star defensive end/tackle prospect Gervon Dexter (Lake Wales, Fla.), a Florida commitment back in November, posted the news of that kind of interest from both Clemson and Oregon Wednesday evening. "Blessed to be offered by Clemson," Dexter said via Twitter. Dexter is down for 18 tackles for loss and nine sacks in his junior campaign. He was a top performer at an Orlando 'Opening' event last month. "Dexter was the best prospect on the field," 247Sports' Steve Wiltfong said. "Checking in at 6-foot-6, 273-pounds, the Florida commit’s strength is off the charts as evident by his 47-foot powerball toss. Dexter controlled the interior of the line of scrimmage of 1-on-1s typically by just moving the offensive linemen with ease then gliding into the backfield. Dexter can also run, clocking 4.88 in the 40-yard dash. Florida recruited an outstanding group on defense in 2019 but didn’t land a prospect like Dexter who has the tools to dominate across the defensive front. 247Sports bills him as the country’s No. 5 defensive tackle."
