MUST SEE: Swinney recalls story about smashing his first car over cliff

Most people have very fond memories of their first car as a youngster.

OK...mine was an old '89 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra. It certainly was not a chick magnet, but I was happy to have my own ride. Anyways, it's the first real feeling of freedom for a teenager and a huge moment in anyone's life to get their own set of car keys.

Even for Clemson coach Dabo Swinney as he was excited back in the summer of 89' when he got his first car -- a beautiful Nissan Sentra.

However, the fun soon ended after only one month of cruising around town as Swinney's car accidentally rolled off a cliff and crashed into a tree one night.

"It just goes straight down off a cliff," Swinney shares in an ESPN animation video. "My whole life flashes in front of me here. I dive out of the way, flipping going through briars. I look up, and the car is just tilting up over, and in slow motion, it goes over crashing down the hill and t-boning into a tree."

Swinney shared that the car took over $3000 worth of damages from the fall and took him a whole year of cleaning gutters to pay to get it out of the shop.

He eventually was able to get his beloved Nissan Sentra, and the rest is history.
