Clemson added to its 2019 defensive group with a commitment from Nashville four-star linebacker Kane Patterson.
Patterson visited Saturday shortly after decommitting from Ohio State. Patterson announced an offer from Clemson not long after Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer had to step away from Ohio State’s fall camp during an investigation into the program. "When I said my sophomore year that Clemson was my 1st choice, I had no idea the journey I was going to take to get there," Patterson posted on Twitter Tuesday. "Thank you to so many people who made this possible. Incredible what all God put in place to put me at Clemson. His timing is perfect. With that being said, I'm blessed to announce that I'm committing to Clemson University." As a defender last season, Patterson amassed 64 stops, 10.5 for loss, with a pair of sacks and an interception last season. As a running back, he topped 1,000 rushing yards with 23 touchdowns. #ALLIN?? #WeTooDeep pic.twitter.com/uEJnc8LKmj
Patterson is a fifth linebacker commit in the 2019 class for Clemson, joining Bryton Constantin (Baton Rouge, La.), Greg Williams (Swansea, S.C.), Keith Maguire (Malvern, Pa.) and Vonta Bentley (Birmingham, Ala.). He is the 24th commitment in Clemson’s 2019 group and solidifies the Tigers in the fifth spot in the 247Sports Composite team rankings. Great day to be a Clemson Tiger!!! #WE2DEEP19 #ClemsonFamily
