Clemson DL Tre Williams to have season-ending surgery |
Clemson head coach
Dabo Swinney spoke to the media Sunday night and shared an update on the injury with redshirt freshman defensive lineman Tre Williams.
"He will be done now for the season," Swinney said. "It’s been a miracle that he has been able to play all year. He’s got to have shoulder surgery. He’s got to have foot surgery. He’s had a couple of surgeries scheduled, but he really wanted to try to play as long as he could. He’s definitely done now with his foot." Swinney was really proud of how Williams battled all season despite his various injuries. "I’m really proud of him and literally how he played - both shoulders strapped in all year long and also with his foot," he said. "We will have to finish out without him, but we will get him well. What a great player he is going to be. I’m thankful he was able to get eleven games of experience in this year because he didn’t get any hardly last year." Williams has 10 tackles and a sack this season. In other roster news, Swinney said that he didn't have any update on whether receivers E.J. Williams or Joseph Ngata will be healthy enough to play against South Carolina on Saturday.
