Two Clemson coaches in top-11 of 2020 assistant pay

Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables and offensive coordinator Tony Elliott ranked in the top-11 for total pay in USA TODAY's 2020 assistant coach salaries database.

After pandemic reductions, Venables brought in a fourth-most $2.16 million, while Elliott tallied $1.52 million.

Alabama's Steve Sarkisian and Auburn's Kevin Steele top the list at $2.5 million, while LSU's Bo Pelini is third ($2.28M).

Clemson's total staff pay ranked third overall ($7.6M) behind Alabama ($8.85M) and Ohio State ($7.86M).

The next-highest staff listed pay out of the ACC is Florida State ($5.4M). A number of league schools are private and choose to not disclose their salaries, including Notre Dame and Miami.
