The recruiting process went relatively quiet for Antwon Murchison prior to his commitment to Clemson. After his commitment, schools such as NC State and South Carolina began to press for his services. Murchison made official visits to South Carolina and Clemson. On Sunday, this is how he characterized his commitment to us.

"Oh yeah, Clemson all the way. That is where I am going to play football."

The official visit with Clemson just reaffirmed what Murchison already had on his mind.

"It wasn't that I was partial to Clemson. I took my visits with an open mind. Clemson is just where I wanted to go. I explored my options and that is where I felt at home. I liked the campus, but mostly I liked the Rock and the Hill. The players and coaches were real down to earth. I trust that Coach Ron West will turn me into a great player."

Defensive coordinator Vic Koenning will have a couple new positions on defense this year. We have already learned through current players and prospects that the cat safety will be one, but Murchison informed us of a new one.

"Coach Koenning said he wants me to play bandit end. It is like defensive end, but I will not just rush. I will drop back in coverage also."

Murchison is currently averaging 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Pinecrest basketball team.
