5-star instate 2021 center draws Clemson offer

by -

The top-rated 2021 center in the 247Sports Composite picked up a Clemson offer Saturday, in 6-foot-11 big man John Butler Jr. out of Christ Church (Greenville, S.C.). Butler also holds offers from Saint Louis, Baylor and Virginia Tech.

He was in town during Clemson's home football opener. Butler averaged 11.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 5.2 blocks as a freshman.

Phenom Hoops Report on Butler: "Butler has a very unique approach to the game, given his ability to block shots and score however he desires. His length has been evident for a few years now, but he’s starting to fully understand how to dominate opposing big men. Butler is able to take smaller guys to the low block and consistently score above their outstretched arms or force slower defenders to chase him around the perimeter. He’s a rarity in basketball and it’s difficult to envision a scenario where Butler isn’t playing at a blue-blood college program in three years."
