Updated Clemson NCAA Tournament projections going into ACC tourney finale |
Clemson has one last game to put before the NCAA Baseball Tournament Committee before Monday's selections (noon/ESPN2).
The Tigers look to close out the regular season with a 41st overall win in the ACC Baseball Championship finale against Louisville (32-23) on Truist Field in Charlotte on Friday (3 p.m./ACCN). After Thursday's 8-7 loss to 11-seed Miami knocked Clemson out of conference title contention, projections from D1Baseball and Baseball America remained unchanged for the Tigers' Top-Eight national seed spot. D1Baseball has Clemson as a No. 6 national seed, still featuring instate rival South Carolina—now as a 2-seed—with the College of Charleston back in and joining projected regional 4-seed Penn. It is put opposite of an NC State regional for the Super Regional round. Baseball America has Clemson as a No. 6 national seed hosting UC Irvine, UNC Greensboro and Fairfield and opposite another ACC opponent for the Supers, with Florida State. For D1's assessment, their No. 9 Florida State plays for a spot in the ACC semis today versus projected No. 10 Virginia (11 a.m./ACCN). D1's No. 11 national seed NC State was eliminated from making the ACC semis with a loss to Duke on Thursday night. A Top-Eight National Seed would ensure Clemson hosting the Super Regional round if it were to advance out of the regionals for the first time since 2010. The Tigers rank No. 7 in the RPI and No. 16 in strength of schedule going into Friday's action nationwide (WarrenNolan.com).
