Clemson in Tier 1 for EA College Football 25 payments |
Clemson has been one of the elite programs in college football since the last edition of a major college football video game, and EA Sports paid the Tigers like it.
According to cllct's reporting, Clemson was among a group of 13 schools in EA's Tier 1 payments for the new College Football 25 game coming this summer (July 19 full release date). The nearly $100,000 payment for Clemson's inclusion in the game was based on its average AP Top 25 finish from 2014-23. Clemson tied Alabama and Ohio State for the most Tier 1 points. That trio was joined in Tier 1 by Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Utah, and Iowa. The bulk of the ACC fell in Tier 2 ($60K per school), led by Florida State then new conference member Stanford, Louisville, NC State, Miami, Pitt, Virginia Tech and North Carolina. The state's other FBS programs were relegated to Tier 3 in South Carolina and Coastal Carolina ($40K per school). Duke, Virginia, Boston College and new ACC member Cal were in Tier 4 ($10K per school). College football players opted in for their name, image and likeness use for at least $600 and a copy of the game. EA Sports had to stop production of the game after the 2013 season over using NIL of players without any compensation, which at the time was not allowed by the NCAA.
