Final NCAA Baseball Tournament projections for Clemson

The final NCAA Tournament predictions are in, and one could feature a rematch and a matchup that was scheduled but never happened.

One stage of the NCAA baseball tournament selection process came in with the 16 host sites announced on Sunday evening, including Clemson. Now, the next stage is a noon announcement on ESPN2 today. Who is coming to Clemson?

The Tigers are expected to be a Top-8 National Seed with a chance to host all the way up to the College World Series round. Both D1Baseball and Baseball America call for Clemson to settle into the No. 6 overall spot.

Of the two major college baseball publications, Baseball America is the one going with a Palmetto State-themed bracket now. The outlet calls for South Carolina, Coastal Carolina and Penn to fill out the field there, and for it to be opposite of the Oklahoma regional for the next round.

Clemson defeated South Carolina 2-0 in the rain-altered, multi-site series, winning in Clemson and in Columbia's Segra Park. The Tigers had rain cancellations for each leg of the scheduled home-and-home series with Coastal Carolina this year.

A rivalry rematch had been a longstanding projection for D1Baseball, but the outlet is predicting another SEC opponent this time. That would be reigning and seven-time national champs LSU, who are fresh off a charge to the SEC title game from an 11-seed.

D1 also has College of Charleston and Bryant in the Clemson regional and pairs it with the NC State regional for the Super Regional round.

The ACC's Tigers have been on the wrong end of home regionals with SEC 2-seeds lately, falling to Vanderbilt in 2017 and 2018 and Tennessee in 2023. The program is seeking its first regional championship since 2010 overall and to break a run of five home regionals without advancing.
