Ben Paulsen goes from goat to walk-off hero

Former Clemson standout Ben Paulsen had an interesting game on Monday night as the Rockies defeated the Rangers 8-7 at Coors Field. The Rockies were still victorious after giving up a large 7-0 lead.

In the fifth inning, Paulsen forgot how many outs there were and walked towards the dugout thinking it was the end of the inning. Paulsen eventually realized his mental error but two runs scored on the play to make it 7-5 Rangers.

"That’s exactly what happened," Paulsen said to the Denver Post. "I thought CarGo threw Odor out at the plate, and I went back and I was holding up two fingers. I didn’t even think to look at the scoreboard. Maybe next time I can put three rocks in my pocket and take one out with each out. I don’t think I have ever done that, and it was really bad that men were on base."

However, Paulsen persevered and hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Rockies an 8-7 victory. It was the Rockies' fourth walk-off win of the season.
