Walk for Veterans to kick off Clemson’s Spring Game tailgate |
CLEMSON — Clemson Tigers fans will have a chance to take a stroll across campus and tailgate with some real American heroes as the Clemson Undergraduate Student Government along with the Student Veterans Association hold the third annual Walk For Veterans at 10 a.m. Saturday. The event benefits the Clemson Veterans Scholarship Endowment, a scholarship fund for military veterans attending Clemson.
The purpose of the event is to promote Clemson’s rich military heritage and provide funding to the CVSE. This is the only Walk for Veterans put on completely by college students, the only other organization that supports a Walk for Veterans is the American Legion. There are more than 450 student veterans at Clemson from all walks of life. Many have families and other responsibilities that make it difficult to get by only with funds provided by the GI Bill. The scholarship endowment supplements the GI Bill benefits to help struggling vets get through college, graduate, and move on to the next chapter of their lives. The walk begins on Parkway Drive (in front of the President’s House) and ends at the Scroll of Honor. A tailgate for the Spring Game follows from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Spring Game weekend schedule Tickets are $5 for the walk only or $20 for the walk and tailgate.
