Rankings: Tigers move up after road sweep |
Clemson moved up five spots in Monday’s D1Baseball.com poll.
Monte Lee’s Tigers are up to No. 12 in the D1 Top 25 after a road series sweep at Wake Forest. Baseball America kept Clemson at No. 14 after the 3-1 week. Clemson (29-11, 14-7 ACC) picked up a game on division leader NC State (31-8, 15-6) and holds the third-best conference record in the league - Coastal Division-leader North Carolina now tied with NC State (27-13, 15-6). After slipping from No. 5 to No. 20 in RPI rank last week, the Tigers moved to No. 17 after the weekend, holding a No. 36 strength of schedule. The Tiger pitching staff ranks second in the ACC in ERA (3.44). Clemson is tied with NC State for the lead in home runs (56) - despite a second-worst batting average (.245). The Tigers play five games this week with midweek home contests versus Kennesaw State (23-17; 87 RPI; 6:30 p.m. Tuesday) and Presbyterian (13-29; 261 RPI; 6:30 Wednesday) and then travels to Virginia for a series (24-17; 74 RPI).
