Mario Melton Athlete T. Wingate High School (High Point, N.C.) 6'3", 200 lbs., 4.4 As a quarterback, Mario Melton led T. Wingate to a 10-3 record and the quarterfinals of the state playoffs by throwing for over 1,000 yards, rushing for 768 yards, and scoring 26 touchdowns. Melton is being recruited as a wide receiver, and says he has received offers from Clemson, Morgan State, and Howard. He attended the Clemson / Florida State game, and is currently leaning towards playing for the Tigers next season. "Coach O'Cain is recruiting me, and a big reason that I am leaning towards Clemson is him," Melton said. "The game with Florida State was a great atmosphere with great fans. It was exciting and crazy. I loved it." "With my speed (4.4), I could see myself doing well at Clemson and fitting into the offense." Along with Coach O'Cain, Melton has been visited at his house by coaches from N.C. State, Wake Forest, Morgan State, and Howard. He has an official visit scheduled for Clemson on January 9, and one to Morgan State on December 10 and hopes to set one up with NC State soon.
