CLEMSON RECRUITING

Recruiting: Tigers Trying To Crack Top Five for Timmons

by -

Lawrence Timmons

Linebacker

Wilson High School (Florence, SC)

6'2", 225 lbs.

SCVarsity.com #7 Player in South Carolina

Selected to 2003 Shrine Bowl Game

Lawrence Timmons had a solid year for Wilson, which finished the season with

an 8-4 record and advanced to the second round of the 3-A state playoffs

before being eliminated by Dillon.

With his high school career now over, Timmons can concentrate more

on which college he will continue his playing days at. Although Clemson

is a school that he has a slight interest in, Timmons lists his top five

schools as North Carolina, Florida State, Florida, Maryland, and

Tennessee.

A North Carolina coach visited Timmons on Monday, and he might make

an official visit to Chapel Hill this weekend. Following that, he will visit

Florida State on January 10th, Florida on the 17th, Maryland on the

24th, and Tennessee during the first weekend in February.

"I am not leaning towards any school in particular," Timmons said. "I

will be ready to make my choice after all my visits are over with."

Clemson assistant Dabo Swinney is recruiting Timmons for the Tigers.

Recruiting Analyst Mickey Plyler on Timmons:

"Timmons might be one of the five best prospects in South Carolina. This is a prospect that has it all. Timmons is a good looking linebacker that has so many positives. Coaches love the way he drops into coverage and the way he plays in space. Timmons is a terrific athlete. There are not too many prospects that have offers from schools like Michigan, Tennessee and Florida. Timmons has created a ton of interest from college coaches that I talk to and this recruiting battle should be very interesting as the in-state programs try to close the borders on this prospect."
