Ranked among the top 300 players in the nation by Scout.com and 247 Sports...ranked as 11th best outside linebacker/defensive end in the nation by 247 Sports...ranked as 24th best outside linebacker by Rivals and 28th best by ESPN.com...ranked as 13th best player in North Carolina by 247 Sports...Rivals.com lists him as 15th best player in North Carolina... four-star recruit according to ESPN.com and 247sports.com...his Dudley High School team won North Carolina state championship in 2013 and posted a perfect 15-0 season...defeated Charlotte Catholic and All-America running back Elijah Hood in the semifinals...played in 2013 Shrine Bowl for the North Carolina team...named to USA Today All-State Team....had five caused fumbles, 111 tackles and seven sacks as a junior...had 89 tackles and 8.5 sacks as a sophomore in 2011...selected to play in 2014 Offense-Defense All-American Bowl just before he enrolled at Clemson...Clemson was first school to offer Register back in summer of 2012...recruited by Robbie Caldwell...Register played his high school football for Steven Davis.
Mickey Plyler on Register: "Clemson needed help at both positions Register could play. If he stays at linebacker then he will be a run stopping inside linebacker. If he moves to defensive end he will be an athletic pass rusher. Many feel he will grow out of that linebacker spot pretty early in his career. I loved Register at the Shrine Bowl. he plays hard and has good instincts. Against the run, he was as good as any linebacker in the Shrine Bowl."
