Mickey,

What are your expectations for the quarterback position. My friends and I have this debate about once a week. So think Dabo is too loyal to Bryant and others think Lawrence will start and one guy thinks Hunter Johnson. What do you think will happen? Thanks.

Paul

Paul,

I will get my first look of this spring Wednesday (2/28) when they open spring practice for the media for a short time. I would expect Bryant to look like the starter on day one, while Johnson looks better than last season and Brice looking more comfortable after red-shirting. My guess is that Lawrence will look very talented, but a little lost like every freshman in his first practice.

As the spring progresses, I would guess Bryant would be number one, but those other three guys will continue to get more comfortable.

I would then speculate that in the summer and early fall the gap will narrow a bit again.

I think it is reasonable to think Bryant will start in the opener, but I also think the talented guys behind him will start to push more and more each week.

Finally, I would not be surprised to see Bryant retain the spot or one of the talented passers to take the position at some point.

I did talk to Brandon Streeter about the competition the other day, and he said he is excited about the players in his meeting room and thinks his entire group will be better this year. He sounded like there would be an open competition among the four and the best player will play.

Dabo said many times that the best player will play. He has said that no one has a lifetime contract.

Bryant played well last year and earned his spot. However, I can see this talented group of passers staking their claim to the position at some point as well.

Finally, I would guess you wanted a simple answer, but there are no simple answers. The staff doesn’t know how it will play out, so how can we know? I will say that I think Lawrence is too good to sit the bench and my guess is that he will start next year at some point.

Mickey,

What are the scenarios for Clemson and its ACC tournament and NCAA tournament seedlings? Thanks.

Carl

Carl,

The NCAA seeding can be anywhere from three to nine or ten seed. That will be determined over the next ten days.

The real complicated part is the ACC seed even though there is only one week to go. Clemson can finish as high as third if they win out and go 12-6. The lowest the Tigers can finish is eighth or ninth. A win against FSU would mean the lowest they could finish would be eighth. A loss to FSU and Syracuse would put eighth or even ninth place in play if my calculations are correct.

Mickey,

When is the youth day this spring? What times and what do I need to know? We have never done this, so any info would help. Thanks.

Brook

Brook,

Clemson football announced on social media Thursday that they will hold a Youth Day on March 3.

Boys and girls from grades 1-6 are welcome, with no registration required. Attendees can enter through Gate 13 at Memorial Stadium at 9 a.m. that Saturday.

From 9:40 a.m.-10:10 a.m., there will be an opportunity to meet players and coaches and get autographs. By 10:15 a.m., attendees are welcome to enter the WestZone and South bleachers to watch Clemson football practice.

Food concessions will be available for purchase, but 10 oz fountain drinks and water will be free. There will be info on Dabo Swinney's football camp available.

Hope this info helps.
