Eight Clemson signees competed in Saturday's U.S. Army All-American Game in San Antonio, Texas.
While off his game early with a couple interceptions, five-star QB Trevor Lawrence recovered to finish the game 11-of-17 passing for 83 yards with a nice touchdown pass on the run and also gained 30 yards rushing. Also on the offensive side, receiver signee Derion Kendrick touched the ball three times for 38 yards (1 rush for 17; 2 catches for 21). Offensive tackle signee Jackson Carman saw the field as well. On defense, defensive end Xavier Thomas (1 QB hurry) and defensive tackle Josh Belk (1 tackle) started and defensive end Justin Mascoll (1 tackle) and defensive back Kyler McMichael (pass breakup) got in the mix as well. Kicker signee B.T. Potter hit a 32-yard attempt and also averaged 64.5 yards on two kickoffs. Not many QBs can make these throws. James Cook and Trevor Lawrence making a few nice connections today. Great drive by the East squad. Looked much more comfortable in the hurry-up.
