CBS Sports projects Clemson No. 5 in first CFP poll |
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney called for fans this week to only pay attention to the final College Football Playoff Poll.
If the first one goes like CBS Sports projects, that may be a good idea. Jerry Palm projects an all Big Ten/SEC top-4 of Ohio State, LSU, Alabama and Penn State, with Clemson the first team out. “The Tigers are suffering in the rankings due to a poor schedule and a near miss against North Carolina,” Palm said, “which is something none of the teams ahead of them has to this point. All they can do is continue to beat up the rest of the hapless ACC. Mission accomplished on Saturday in a 59-7 win over Boston College.” Palm does project Clemson to eventually find its way in the CFP versus Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. The first CFP poll is set to be announced on ESPN around 9 p.m. on Nov. 5.
