Greenville offensive lineman Cory Lambert (6-7, 290) visited the Tigers last weekend on his official visit and knew that he had made the right choice in committing to Clemson earlier in the year.

"One of the biggest things that help my decision was my mom,” said Lambert. “I pretty much knew towards the end of the recruiting process that Clemson is where I wanted to go. My mom was thinking about it, but when we went on the official visit she was happier than ever. She was asking all the right questions and they answered them with the right answers. Now she is happier than ever that I am going to Clemson, and she can't wait to see me play."

Current Clemson offensive lineman and Greenville High alumnus William Henry was Lambert's player host on his official visit. Henry offered Lambert some advice.

"He said to make sure you work hard. It's a lot different. You can't slack off. The coaches will get you for that. Make sure you study hard because the coaches will get you for that too. That's what Coach Bowden is all about. That's the number one rule - to graduate with a degree."

The highlight of the visit was running down the hill for Lambert.

"That was very exciting," said Lambert. "There was nobody there. I can't wait to run down the hill with 80,000 people there with the crowd going wild. I can't wait."

Recruiting analyst Mickey Plyler says the commitment of Lambert is huge for the Tigers.

"It's big because it's an area of need," said Plyler. "They have to have offensive lineman. It also reestablished Clemson at Greenville High School. There are very few offensive linemen that come up and play as a true freshman, but Lambert fits in that category. I would be surprised if he didn't play right away.”

Clemson coaches also see a chance for Lambert to step in early.

"They said I do have a chance to come in and start, but I would have to make that decision by working hard," said Lambert.

Hear a live interview with Lambert on the Sunday Night Recruiting Show with Mickey Plyler on 104.9 WCCP-FM in Upstate SC from 8 to 10 PM - Live interviews with many of prospects on the show.
