The fight for the top spot in the 2020 team recruiting rankings is shaping up to be a three-team battle going into May.
Clemson (12 commits) grabbed No. 1 in the 247Sports Team Composite with a commitment from elite defensive line prospect Bryan Bresee recently but the ACC Tigers sit in third now after some new pledges nationally. LSU (15 commits) holds the top spot (259) after the addition of 5-star receiver Rakim Jarrett and 4-star linebacker Antoine Sampah, with Alabama (16 commits) next (256.03) and then Clemson (246.45). Clemson and LSU are the only two teams with multiple pledges from 247 Composite 5-stars. The Tigers would move back to the top currently if 5-star QB DJ Uiagalelei makes a May commitment decision for Clemson. The Tigers are also a favorite or leader for 5-stars in defensive end Jordan Burch, defensive end Myles Murphy and running back Demarkcus Bowman and are considered a strong contender for 5-star wide receiver Julian Fleming.
