SEC Network analyst Tim Tebow isn't a big fan of
Trevor Lawrence's current Heisman chances.
“I don’t think there’s any doubt it’s going to hurt Trevor Lawrence," Tebow said about Clemson's schedule on ESPN's First Take. "It’s also going to hurt the running back Travis Etienne. Let’s be honest right now, Trevor’s not even really in the picture for the Heisman Trophy right now – seven touchdowns, five interceptions. I think he has the most talent as a quarterback in college football, but he’s not playing even close to the best." Tebow doesn't think that Clemson will have any signature wins in the regular season for him to make a statement to Heisman voters. “The one thing about Clemson, they’re so ridiculously talented, they don’t need him to play the best right now because of their schedule. And yes, I think he’ll get things on track, but they don’t have the signature wins that Alabama or LSU or Oklahoma or Ohio State could have. Their quarterbacks will be able to take that next step and hold up that trophy in December. I just don’t think Clemson has those games on their schedule, even in the ACC Championship Game…That schedule is really going to hurt Trevor and Travis Etienne, but I will have Travis Etienne in my top few for the Heisman.” In 2019, Lawrence has completed 66-for-106 passes for 925 yards with seven passing touchdowns and five interceptions. He also has three rushing scores on the ground.
